What to do in New Norfolk Tasmania
New Norfolk is a vibrant town in the picturesque Derwent river valley and is 32kms (20 minutes) north-west of Hobart on the Lyell Highway. It is the third oldest town in Tasmania settled by free-settlers who were relocated when the Norfolk Island prison settlement was closed in 1807. These pioneers were resettled on land grants and the settlement was called New Norfolk in honour of their former home.

Willow Court Historic Site
Built as a military hospital in 1831 then used as an insane asylum it is now being utlised as an antique centre which also includes various shops and cafes. Located at 15 George St, New Norfolk.
The Salmon Ponds
Ten minutes from New Norfolk you can feed trout and learn about the history and processes of the hatchery production. Located at 70 Salmon Ponds Road, Plenty.
